Dear World: We Are A Bunch of Inbred, Backward Morons

Sincerely, Virginia.

Go ahead, Republicans. See if you can take this country all the way back to the fucking stone age. Then won’t you jackasses be proud?

I love how they always think that all they need to do is DISCLAIM their religious motivations for passing laws to make the law pass the Lemon Test. “But it says RIGHT HERE that this isn’t about religion!”

Just another reason to be glad Cuccinelli won’t be governor but still this is embarrassing.

Randall Gross,

They’re getting smarter, unfortunately not in the right way. Now they’re trying to promote creationism in our schools without looking like they are officially doing so, so they can get around the establishment clause. This is a very clever tactic for creationists to use. Many people who actually support science, might not even notice what they’re trying to do here, unless someone else pointed it out. Very sneaky.

Discuss the controversy — it’s been part of the Discovery Institute’s “wedge” strategy from the beginning. They’re just getting more clever at it.

First, they have managed to convince some people that Creationism, and its offspring, Intelligent Design, are scientific theories. Then, they have created a controversy regarding the validity of evolution, which comes from within their own camp. Next, they argue since there are competing scientific theories, all of them should be presented in science classes, and not just “evilution.” Finally, they have co-opted a concept from the more liberal-minded and secular world of education, critical thinking, to hoodwink clueless boards of education into agreeing that students should be given the chance to decide which of these so-called competing theories is correct.

It’s a carefully planned and rather devious strategy to insinuate religion — their religion — into the public schools. It plays on the relative lack of scientific awareness of most education boards and the public at large, who may be unaware that there is no controversy among scientists regarding evolution, and that the only people disagreeing with evolution are the same people trying to suppress it in the schools.
